Stavros Beach is located 17 km north east of Chania, Crete, on the northern tip of Akrotiri. In the area there is a big steep mountain in the shape of a camel, standing opposite the port of the village. The mountain has become popular from the scenes of the 1964 film "Zorba the Greek", where Anthony Quinn danced the famous sirtaki !

Today, Stavros beach has been developed from a small fishing village into a tourist resort. The main beach is located east of the village, at the foot of the mountain and next to the picturesque harbor of Stavros village. Is formed within a circular bay completely isolated from winds. The bay reminiscent of the lagoon, has white sand and turquoise shallow waters.

It was used by the locals to build the walls of Chania, and the stones were transported by ship.
