Cretico Privacy Policy
Cretico (“Cretico”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates a platform and community marketplace that helps people discover and book unique holiday accommodations in Crete through its website (the “Platform”).
This Privacy Policy informs you about how we collect, use and process your Personal Information when you use the Platform. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, you should not use the Platform and should deactivate your Cretico account.
Definitions
- “Aggregated Information”
- information about all of our users, or about specific groups or categories of users, that we combine together so that it no longer includes or references any Personal Information.
- “Data Controller”
- Cretico, the company responsible for the use of and processing of Personal Information.
- “Personal Information”
- information relating to a living individual who is or can be identified either from that information alone, or from that information in conjunction with other information in the Data Controller’s possession.
What types of information does Cretico gather about its users?
Information you provide
We receive and store information you provide to us: when you complete forms during registration or update your account; when you use the Platform, for example when you post an accommodation, make or accept a booking, or communicate with other users; when you link a third-party account such as Facebook to your Cretico account; and when you communicate with Cretico directly.
Log data
We also collect Log Data, information that is automatically recorded by our servers whenever you access or use the Platform. Log Data may include your IP address, the dates and times of access, the hardware and software you use, referring pages, the number of clicks, and the time spent on pages.
Cookies and other tracking technologies
Cretico uses cookies and similar tracking technologies, and our business partners may also place their own. We track how users respond to advertisements and observe usage patterns for purposes including customer support, analytics, research, product development, fraud prevention, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, investigation, enabling access to the Platform, processing payments, and providing targeted marketing on the Platform and on third-party websites. How Cretico uses and processes the information that you provide or make available
We use and process your information for purposes including:
- to enable you to access and use the Platform;
- to operate, protect and improve the Platform and our services, including through analytics and research;
- to create and maintain a trusted environment, including fraud detection and identity verification;
- to send you service, support and administrative messages and to respond to your enquiries;
- to send you marketing communications, where you have consented to receive them;
- to administer referral programmes, promotions, surveys and other activities;
- to comply with our legal obligations.
How Cretico uses and processes user communications
Cretico may review, scan or analyse your communications with other users exchanged via the Platform for fraud prevention, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, investigation, product development, research and customer support purposes.
We will not review, scan or analyse your communications for the purpose of sending third-party marketing messages to you, and we will not sell reviews or analyses of user communications to third parties. By using the Platform, you consent that Cretico, in its sole discretion, may review, scan, analyse and store your communications.
When Cretico discloses or shares personal information, and to whom
Certain information is shared as part of how the Platform works, and other information may be disclosed in specific circumstances, which may include transfers to recipients outside the European Economic Area:
- public listing information may be indexed and displayed by third-party search engines;
- full names, email addresses and phone numbers are shared between a guest and a host only after a booking is confirmed;
- personal information needed to complete a stay is disclosed to the relevant host or guest when a booking is accepted;
- reviews you post are publicly visible on the Platform;
- listings may be distributed to and displayed on business partners’ websites;
- related Cretico entities may access your information under protections consistent with this policy;
- third-party service providers may access your data to carry out verification and other checks on our behalf;
- we may disclose information where permitted or required by law, or where necessary for fraud prevention and the security of user accounts.
Business transfers by Cretico
If Cretico undertakes or is involved in any merger, acquisition, reorganisation, sale of assets, bankruptcy or insolvency event, we may sell, transfer or share some or all of our assets, including your Personal Information. In such a case we will notify you before your Personal Information becomes subject to different privacy terms.
How to change or delete your information, or cancel your Cretico account
You can review, update, correct or delete the Personal Information in your Cretico account by logging in and editing your account details. You can also cancel your account from your account settings.
Please note that any review you leave may continue to be publicly available on the Platform, shown with your first name only and never your surname, even after your Cretico account is cancelled. Write to [email protected] if you would like a published review removed.
Keeping your personal information secure
We have implemented reasonable administrative, technical and physical security measures to protect your Personal Information against unauthorised access, destruction or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your transmissions to us or of the Personal Information that we store.
Your privacy when you access third-party websites and resources
The Platform contains links to third-party websites and resources over which Cretico has no control. These websites may place their own cookies, web beacons or other files on your device, or collect and solicit Personal Information from you, under their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party website you visit.
Maps on the Platform are drawn with map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Loading a map sends your IP address to the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s tile servers, which is what any request to any website does, and it sets no cookie on your device. We do not use Google Maps.
Special features
The Platform offers a referral service integrated with third-party sites such as Facebook, which lets you invite friends to use Cretico. Invitation messages are sent by the third-party site itself, and Cretico does not collect or retain the contact information that is used to send them.
Changes to this privacy policy
Cretico may change how it collects and processes Personal Information at any time, without advance notice. Where we make material changes to this Privacy Policy we will notify you either by posting the change on the Platform or by email, and we will revise the “Last updated” date above. If you disagree with the revised policy, you must stop using the Platform and deactivate your account.

If you reside in the European Union, you may request a written copy of the Personal Information we hold about you by writing to [email protected]. We will respond within 40 days of receiving your request; a charge not exceeding €50 may apply, and we may ask for proof of your identity before responding.
You may also ask us to correct any inaccurate Personal Information (we will act on such requests within the same 40-day window), and you may request the erasure of your Personal Information free of charge by writing to [email protected].
