Area

One of the most prominent attractions of the area near the villa is the archaeological site of ancient Aptera about 2,5km to the east. Aptera is a site in western Crete, a kilometer inland from the southern shore of Souda Bay, about 13 kilometers east of Chania.

With its highly fortunate geographical situation, the city-state was powerful from Minoan through Hellenistic times, when it gradually declined. It was destroyed by earthquake during the 7th century. By the 12th century, a monastery of St. John Theologos had been built on the site; it continued in operation until 1964.

Exceptional villa!

This is an absolutely stunning villa- it's spacious, spotless and has absolutely everything you need. We were amazed at how luxurious it felt, but also how homely. The outside space is also excellent, with a beautiful pool and gardens. We loved the area- plenty to do not far away, and 20 minutes walk away up a beautiful road and path are some great restaurants if you don't want to take the car out for food in the evenings. We also just loved the view- it's breathtaking. The NATO base opposite was exciting to watch as submarines arrived and left! Stavros is the perfect host- he's so helpful and kind if you need anything. We just loved it. Wonderful holiday.

We stayed at the Amelia Villa October 2016 for two weeks and we were delighted with everything we found there. The Villa was clean, the kitchen well equipped, our bed was comfortable, the gardens were imaculate and the outside cooking area worked perfectly. Amelia is situated overlooking an inlet from the sea and the views were amazing, we have the choice of different patios and seating areas allowing us a different perspective each time. The pool was sparkling clean and we had sun-beds and towels provided during our stay. Stavros was a wonderful host spending time taking us to the nearby town and villages to introduce us to the locality and show us how to find places. He advised us on restaurants and sightseeing tours and couldn't have been more helpful. We liked it so much we have already booked to go again next year which is a measure of our satisfaction and enjoyment.

Response from Stavros

Dear Joyce, thank you very much for your kind comments. It was a real pleasure to meeting you and Stephen and I will be glad to maintain our friendship in the future. Expect to see me soon in Blackwell house :)
