Area

Municipality of Arkadi - Viran Episkopi

The village of Viran Episkopi (meaning ruined or burnt Diocese) is located 14 km or 15' drive east of Rethymnon, on the old national road to Perama and at an altitude of 110m.

After the liberation of Crete from the Saracens by the Venetians, the old dioceses were established again, some of which had moved their headquarters.

In 1842 the first diocese A(g)riou moved to location of the Viran (which in Turkish means "ruin") Episkopi.

Around

The nearest taverns can be found at 300m distance in Viran Episkopi, whereas the sandy beach and nearest super-markets are in Stavromenos just 2 Kms away.

In the town of Perama 10 Kms away, there are super-markets, banks and ATMs, the post office, taverns and a large variety of shops.

Interesting nearby outings can be made to the traditional village of Margarites, the ancient ruins of old Eleftherna and the historical monastery of Arkadi. Due to the quiet setting a car would be considered essential to explore the immediate area and the island in general.

House Rules

For winter months maybe there is extra charge for oil heating.

Dear Guests hello, my name is Yiannis. I was born and grew up in the city of Rethymno in Crete. After studying for a few years at Thessaloniki in northern Greece, I returned to my home town where I have been living ever since.

From 2013 until today, I have assumed the management of the villa, our family owned, beautiful holiday villa located in the village of Viran Episkopi, which is my father's birth place.

We are very happy to welcome your visit to our villa and will do our best efforts to make your vacation in Crete a relaxing, fulfilling and memorable experience!
