Myself and my husband stayed at Villa Petra for a week in June 2016. It was everything we expected from the beautiful photos and more!! Villa Petra is tucked away in the hills of Crete, with no overlooking neighbours and has wonderful views of the surrounding olive groves, hill and mountains. It's about a 3 min drive from the little town of Maza where Costos, the friendly and charming owner of the village tavern, welcomes all his guests like old friends and serves delicious, fresh, locally sourced food. A treat not to be missed! It is also less than 10 mins from the larger town of Vrisses which has plenty of taverns, shops, cafes and more wonderful, friendly Cretans. The 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, stone walled, high ceilinged, air-conditioned Villa is absolutely beautiful and so very tastefully decorated! It was an absolutely delight and joy staying there. It has a fabulous, large, open plan, well equipped kitchen and living room area with a working fireplace. All three bedrooms are beautifully decorated , one has an en-suite and the other bathroom has a jacuzzi bath and shower. The outside area is stunning. It is lush with beautiful, sweet smelling plants, has a gorgeous covered terrace with seating, a hammock, a beautiful, clean, well maintained swimming pool, umbrellas and lounge chairs. There is nothing not to love about this wonderful villa. I couldn't recommend it more highly. If I could, I would immediately relocate and live there ... happily ever after :-).
I cannot recommend Villa Petra highly enough. Went with two kids. The position is perfect. Nestled in green hills with the White mountains in the background. Vrysses was the perfect small town to eat and stock up on food and essentials. Great swimming 15 minutes away. Best food of holiday at Kostas' taverna - which is just perfect! 5 mins from the main coast road so trips to the beaches in the west, to Chania and Rethymno are all simple. Immediate area around villa was really quiet. Good for running in early morning. Villa itself is lovely, beautifully restored and peaceful. Nice deep swimming pool so youngest learned how to dive. Biggest problem is tearing yourself away to visit the rest of Crete. Gregory was a wonderful host. Made sure we went to the best places and could just relax. After Petra we went to another villa on south coast. Great location but we were kicking ourselves that we hadn't booked Petra for two weeks instead of one.
